Booher Library: 2020-21 Operations: Fall 2020 Plans for Operation

A message about 2020-21 operations to Southwest students, faculty, and staff


  • The Booher Library is open to Southwest students, faculty, and staff. No appointment is necessary for Southwest students, faculty, and staff. Other Booher Library patrons may visit the library by appointment. Please contact the library staff at to set up an appointment. Hours of operation can be found on the library website (scroll down to the Google calendar.)

  • Visiting the library (and other spaces on campus) will require following all health-related guidelines issued by Seminary of the Southwest

  • Southwest students, faculty, and staff can use their Southwest ID card to open the library front door during its scheduled hours of operation. 

  • All borrowers are encouraged to request the physical items they wish to borrow by using this online form. Library staff will put the order together for you, charge the items to your library account, and email you when your order is ready for pick up. The exception will be course reserve items and circulating Reference items, which Southwest students may bring to the front desk for contactless checkout. 

  • Eating is not permitted in the building unless you are working a paid shift in the library. Covered beverages are allowed. There are covered benches for eating outside the library.

  • Talking is allowed, but we encourage taking long conversations outside and being mindful of those who may be trying to concentrate. Students viewing material with sound on a device will need to use headphones. Zoom sessions can only take places in designated rooms. Please read more about the library's private rooms here.

  • The Reference Room has an occupancy limit of ten people. If the room is near that number, please attempt to take the material you wish to use to another space in the library.

  • If you use a shared desk or device, please wipe it down with the provided disinfecting wipes before and after use. This cleaning will be in addition to the cleaning our housekeeping staff provides.

  • The Welcome Desk will have a staff person present to assist you. The staff workroom will not be accessible to students and faculty using the library. We thank you for your help in providing our library staff with desks in this area an "office" during this time of pandemic.
