Instructional - Guide to the Library for Southwest Students: Display Case

Crucifixion, from Apocalypse de Saint Jean

Crucifixion, from Apocalypse de Saint Jean is a framed, limited run lithograph that is signed and hand-painted by the artist Salvador Dalí. This notable work of art by one of the most celebrated surrealists of the 20th century is on loan to the Harrison Library by a generous friend of Seminary of the Southwest. It will be exhibited here only through Lent, so don't miss it! You can view it on Level 2 of the library on the west side of the building.

Divine Liturgy

Each student in Nathan Jennings’s class Worship and Theology was asked to outline a divine service. They engaged the assignment with creativity and imagination. These are a few examples of the work produced, provided voluntarily by the students.  The students focused on one particular dynamic relationship within the divine service and used the tools developed in the class to connect the rite to the mystery it manifests.

Some questions addressed in their reflections are:

  • What opens up about relationship with God around this connection?
  • What things get clarified?
  • What questions open up?
  • How do you envision this extending into future ministry and vocation?

McDonald. Dean Emeritus Dusty McDonald, who has generously donated books and items to the seminary over the years, gave the sculpture to the library in 2021 so it can be enjoyed by all in this community.
